I began this blog in the fall of 2009, having taken a course in blogging at Brown University to acquaint me with the ins and outs of the process. Since then I have posted daily with only a few exceptions for good reason. People are constantly telling me that it amazes them that I am there online every day. It has become a part of the rhythm of my life. I'd like to think that is true for some of you who read me, as well.
As I look back over these more than 1500 postings I realize that I'm more politically engaged than I expected to be. My goal is to explore words that come up in everyday conversation and to uncover their origins, their unique meanings, and their applications. Each time I do that I find myself drawn to current events which stimulate the use of the word. Sometimes it's sports, the arts, literature, or religion, but ... for the most part it is in the drama of politics and government. I don't apologize for that. It is obviously important to me. I hope it is to you, also.
Please don't hesitate to comment on my postings. I welcome your thoughts.
Jed
